Needling Review

Needling Review offers Gunn IMS alumni (iSTOP or UBC) a structured opportunity to review all current UBC Gunn IMS needling theory and techniques. Practical and theory components can be mixed and matched across several bundling options to suit individual needs. Needling Review gives you the opportunity to ensure your dry needling theory and practice are safe and current, and to stay informed about technique updates since your initial training.

In Person. Practical Sessions.

Course attendees have the option to join Level 1, Level 2 AND/OR Level 3 of the in-person Credentialling/Certification Course weekends and review the needling techniques for the muscles taught in the program as per the selected weekend, i.e., Level 1 muscles will be reviewed on the Level 1 weekends, Level 2 muscles will be reviewed on the Level 2 weekends, Level 3 muscles will be reviewed on the Level 3 weekends.

 

Course attendees have the option to join Level 1, Level 2 AND/OR Level 3 of the in-person Credentialling/Certification Course weekends and review the needling techniques for the muscles taught in the  program as per the selected weekend, i.e.,   Level 1 muscles will be reviewed on the   Level  1 weekends, Level 2 muscles will be reviewed on the Level 2 weekends, Level 3 muscles will be reviewed on the Level 3 weekends.

Level 1, Level 2 are both two-day in-person courses.
Course hours are Saturday and Sunday, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm both days.

Level 3 is a 1.5 day in-person course.
Course hours are Saturday 9:00 am – 5:00 pm and Sunday 9:00am – 12 noon.

 

Course fees include:

  • access to  the UBC Gunn IMS Surface Anatomy  videos for 12 months

Theory Review - Online

These options provide access to the current Credentialling/Certification Course theory material.

 

Option A. The Four “Core” Lectures
i. Dr. Gunn’s Neuropathic Model of Myofascial Pain (presented by Cory Choma)
ii. The Effects of Dry Needling (presented by Lyndal Solomons) ​
iii. Preparing to Treat (presented by Dave Zelibka)
iv. The Gunn IMS Neuropathic Assessment (presented by Lorrie Maffey)

Option B. Neuropathic Assessment and Clinical Reasoning Materials
i. Clinical Application of the Gunn IMS Neuropathic Assessment (presented by Lyndal Solomons) – this series of videos includes a demonstration of the neuropathic assessment on a model and related documentation using the current neuropathic assessment form, a discussion around clinical reasoning related to the model, and a discussion around treatment planning related to the model
ii. A fillable PDF version of the current UBC Gunn IMS Neuropathic Assessment Form you can use in your clinic charting
iii. Video presentations of two Instructor-Prepared Case Studies (presented by Susan Massitti and Mitchell Davis)

Eligibility For Needling Review

This course is only available for those practitioners of Gunn IMS who:

  • Have successfully completed certification training in Gunn IMS through iSTOP or UBC only
  • Hold current registration to practise from their relevant regulatory college   AND
  • Hold current malpractice insurance  (as detailed below)

Course Costs

1. Needling Review Level 1 – $500 CAD

  • 2 days of in-person training,
  • a current UBC Gunn IMS manual for the selected level, and
  • 12 months access to the UBC Gunn IMS Surface Anatomy videos

2. Needling Review Level 2 – $500 CAD

  • 2 days of in-person training,
  • a current UBC Gunn IMS manual   for the selected level, and
  • 12 months access to the UBC Gunn IMS Surface Anatomy videos

3. Needling Review Level 3 – $375 CAD

  • 1.5 days of in-person training,
  • a current UBC Gunn IMS manual   for the selected level, and
  • 12 months access to the UBC Gunn IMS Surface Anatomy videos

4. The Four “Core” Lectures – $350 CAD

 

5. Neuropathic Assesment and Clinical Reasoning Materials – $150 CAD

Fees for Bundling Components

1. In-Person Bundle – Needling Review Levels 1 AND 2 – $900 CAD 

 – includes:

  • 4 days of in-person training,
  • a current UBC Gunn IMS manual   for the selected levels, and
  • 12 months access to the UBC Gunn IMS Surface Anatomy videos

2. Theory Bundle – The Four “Core” Lectures AND Neuropathic Assessment and Clinical Reasoning Materials – $400 CAD 

3. In-Person Level 1 and 2 AND Theory Bundle – $1200 CAD

– includes:

  • attendance at both in-person credentialling sessions (Level 1    AND Level   2) and
  • access to all the online theory components (The Four “Core” Lectures and the Neuropathic Assessment and Clinical Reasoning Materials), as well as
  • a current UBC Gunn IMS manual   for the selected levels, and
  • 12 months access to the UBC Gunn IMS Surface Anatomy videos
