The Gunn IMS Difference

  • University-affiliated curriculum
  • Safety standards embedded at every level
  • Built on decades of collective clinical expertise

Whole-body neuromusculoskeletal model

Gunn IMS teaches clinicians to understand dysfunction across interconnected systems, rather than treating isolated symptoms or points. This model helps organize clinical reasoning and supports more durable outcomes in persistent pain.

Safety as a clinical standard

Safety at Gunn IMS is not a single module or checklist. It is embedded throughout training—covering anatomy, depth, clean field, timing, and appropriateness—so safe practice becomes habit, not assumption.

Depth without shortcuts

Gunn IMS offers an accessible entry point without lowering the bar. Clinicians can begin safely, then progress into deeper regional and specialty training as their skills and experience grow—earning certification that reflects true clinical competence.

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about Gunn IMS.

Who is Level 3 designed for?

Level 3 is designed for clinicians who have completed Level 1 & 2 and are confidently using dry needling in practice.

This level is intended for clinicians who want to expand into deeper anatomical regions, specialty areas, and more complex clinical presentations, while continuing to reinforce safety and clinical reasoning and culminating in certification.

What does Level 3 add beyond Level 1 & 2?

Level 3 extends the foundational framework introduced in Levels 1 & 2 into advanced regional and specialty training.

The focus shifts toward increased precision, deeper anatomical understanding, clinical integration, and decision-making in more complex cases. Together, this leads to Gunn IMS certification.

How long does it take to complete Levels 2 and 3?

Progression through Level 3 is not strictly time-based.

The timeline depends on individual pace, clinical experience, and course availability. This structure ensures certification reflects demonstrated understanding and safe application, rather than simply completing courses as quickly as possible.

What does certification mean at Gunn IMS?
Certification at Gunn IMS reflects completion of structured training across Levels 1–3 and demonstrated competence within the Gunn IMS clinical framework.

It signals depth, accountability, and a commitment to high standards in dry needling practice—not just attendance at a series of courses.

Does Level 3 focus on specific areas of the body?

Yes. Level 3 includes advanced regional and specialty-focused training that addresses more complex anatomical areas and clinical applications.

This structure allows clinicians to progressively expand their scope while maintaining safety and precision.

Is Gunn IMS certification recognized outside of Canada?
Gunn IMS training is delivered under Canadian regulatory and professional standards.

While the clinical framework and safety principles are internationally applicable, recognition outside of Canada depends on local regulatory bodies. Clinicians intending to practice internationally are encouraged to review regional requirements and contact Gunn IMS to discuss alignment.
